How to reach Santa Margherita Ligure

Santa Margherita Ligure is located about 30 Km east of Genova on the railway line Genova-Pisa. Participants are adviced to reach Genova Brignole railway station, and then take a train to Santa Margherita. The frequency of trains vary from half-an-hour to one hour depending on the time of the day. The trip takes about 30 minutes and costs about 5000 Italian Lira.

By plane

Preferably you should book flights to the Genova airport (many daily connections to Zurich, Munich, London Gatwick, Paris, Milano Malpensa, Rome); alternatively you may arrive at Milano Malpensa that is connected to Milano Centrale railway station by regular shuttle buses (bus ticket are sold on board).
From Milano Centrale there are InterCity trains to Genova almost every hour, the journey takes about 2 hours 30 minutes. Few of them may stop also to Santa Margherita.

Once in Genova, to reach Brignole railway station from the airport, you can either take a taxi or a shuttle bus.

By train

Genova has two main railway stations, Piazza Principe and Brignole: the former is located in the western area of the city, the latter in the eastern area. Some trains from Milano and Torino stop only at Piazza Principe (i.e. those not going to Pisa). However Brignole station can be reached from Piazza Principe station in few minutes by taking any eastbound train.

Most trains stop at Santa Margherita, with direct connections to Genova (30 minutes): Milano, Roma, Paris, etc.

By car

Take the motorway A12 (Genova-Livorno) and exit at Rapallo. Then follow indications for Santa Margherita-Portofino. Participants may use the parking area ofthe hotel without charge.
